Unfortunately, his career took an unfortunate turn when he suffered a life-altering injury on the job. Despite his dedication and service, Tajo was denied compensation for his injury for thirty years, beginning in 1994. This injustice became the catalyst for his first book, “Grounded.”
Writing this book has been a deeply personal journey for Tajo, and he hopes it will resonate with others who have faced similar challenges. By sharing his story, he aims to offer hope and inspiration to those who may be struggling. Tajo firmly believes that stories can connect people and foster a deeper understanding of one another, and he endeavours to accomplish just that through “Grounded.”

Tajo’s eye injury, which left him functionally blind,  resulted in revoking his pilot’s license in 1995. However, through legal proceedings, he and his legal team successfully proved the liability of the airline BWIA in the High Court of Trinidad in 2006. This milestone victory in his pursuit of justice marked a turning point in his journey.

Inspiration To Write

The inspiration behind my book, “Grounded: One Eye Open,” stems from a deeply personal place within me. It is born out of a profound sense of injustice and a burning desire for truth and accountability.

Throughout my life, I have encountered numerous challenges and faced injustices that have left an indelible mark on my soul. These experiences have fueled a relentless determination within me to seek justice, not just for myself, but for all those who have been marginalized, silenced, or oppressed.

The catalyst for writing this book lies in the belief that storytelling has the power to evoke empathy, spark meaningful conversations, and ultimately drive positive change. I wanted to share my journey, not as a mere recounting of events, but as a call to action—a rallying cry for justice, resilience, and solidarity.

Moreover, I was inspired by the unwavering support of my family, friends, and legal counsel, whose dedication and belief in my cause have been instrumental in navigating the complexities of seeking justice. Their unwavering faith in me has been a source of strength and inspiration throughout this journey.

Ultimately, my book is a testament to the power of resilience, the pursuit of truth, and the enduring hope for a more just and equitable world. It is my sincerest hope that through sharing my story, I can inspire others to stand up against injustice, advocate for change, and never lose sight of the transformative power of perseverance and solidarity.
